Pace has a lot of RVs. Drive the neighborhoods off Highway 90 and Woodbine and you will see travel trailers on side pads, fifth-wheels behind fences, and motorhomes under carports, most of them waiting for the next trip to the beach or the next run up I-10. Rigs that sit are rigs that have problems when they move, and the first miles out of Pace are where those problems show up.

The driveway call
Most RV work in Pace does not happen on a shoulder. It happens in a driveway or a storage lot, before the trip or after the rig would not start for it. The common ones:
- Tires. Old rubber on a rig that sat, cracked sidewalls, and a spare that has never been checked. Replaced on site, with the pressures set for the load.
- Batteries. House batteries cooked by a converter or dead from sitting, chassis batteries on a motorhome that would not crank. Tested and replaced in the driveway.
- Brakes and bearings on towables. Brakes that grab or do nothing after a season, bearings that have not been serviced. Done at the trailer.
- Slides and jacks that will not move. Motors, switches, hydraulics, and wiring, fixed where the rig is parked.
- Lights and the seven-pin plug. Corroded pins and dead markers found before the state trooper finds them.
- Generators that will not start after sitting. Fuel, batteries, and the starting circuit.

The roads out of Pace
From Pace, an RV goes one of three ways: east on 90 through Milton to I-10, west on 90 toward Pensacola, or south on 87 through Milton to the coast. All three put the rig on the highway within a few miles of leaving the driveway, and the tire that was low, the bearing that was dry, or the battery that was weak fails in that first stretch. The good news is that it is close to home and close to us. A breakdown on 90 in Pace or on the ramp at I-10 is a short call.
If a trailer tire blows on the way out, pull off, look at what it tore out, and have the mate checked too. Both tires on that side have been through the same heat.
Motorhomes
Diesel pushers and gas coaches get chassis work where they sit: engine, cooling, air, brakes, tires, batteries, and the wiring between them. It is the same heavy truck repair we do on semis, with more bodywork in the way. On the house side, the things that keep the coach from traveling get handled too: slides, jacks, entry steps, and the battery and charging systems. Travel trailers and fifth-wheels
Tires, brakes, bearings, suspension, lights, wiring, and the hitch side. Fifth-wheel pin boxes and suspension get a lot of abuse on the rough side roads, and the suspension issues that show up as a tilt or a tire wearing on one edge are worth catching in the driveway. Storage lots
Rigs in the storage lots around Pace and Milton get the same service as rigs in driveways. Give dispatch the lot and the space and the crew comes to it. Tires, batteries, and pre-trip checks in a storage lot before a trip mean the rig leaves the lot ready instead of leaving it to find out.

Yes. Tires are mounted and balanced on site wherever the trailer is parked.
Do you work on the appliances and plumbing inside the RV?
No. The crew handles the mechanical, electrical, tire, brake, and running-gear side, plus the slides, jacks, and batteries that keep a rig moving. Deep coach work is not what a roadside truck is for.
Can I schedule a pre-trip check ahead of time?
Yes. Call dispatch and book it for a day before the trip so there is time to fix what turns up.
